The formula for calculating condenser efficiency (CE) is as follows:
CE = ((T2 – T1) * 100) / (T3 – T1)
Where:
- CE: Condenser Efficiency (expressed as a percentage)
- T1: Inlet Water Temperature (or the temperature of the cooling fluid entering the condenser)
- T2: Outlet Water Temperature (or the temperature of the cooling fluid leaving the condenser)
- T3: Vacuum Temperature at Absolute Pressure (or the temperature at which the condensation occurs within the condenser)
Here’s how the formula works:
- Subtract T1 (inlet temperature) from T2 (outlet temperature) to find the temperature difference between the cooling fluid before and after passing through the condenser.
- Subtract T1 (inlet temperature) from T3 (vacuum temperature) to find the temperature difference between the cooling fluid’s initial temperature and the temperature at which condensation occurs.
- Divide the first temperature difference (T2 – T1) by the second temperature difference (T3 – T1).
- Multiply the result by 100 to express the efficiency as a percentage.
